Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to remarks made by Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo after firing shots at the Reds’ famous home.
The club official told AS that despite being pleased with the manner of Diego Simeone’s game plan, the job was only half done. However, he added that Anfield is a great stadium but it is old and that it would not pass the UEFA inspection if it had to be carried out.
This comes after Jurgen Klopp’s side lost 1-0 to the red half of Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday. Saul Niguez scored the only goal after the fourth minute to give the hosts the advantage going into the second leg at Anfield. It was a night to forget for Liverpool as they failed to register a shot on target throughout the 90 minutes. Unsurprisingly, supporters did not welcome Cerezo’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan thanked him for doing Klopp’s team talk for him going into the second leg on Merseyside.
