Paul Joyce has reported that the work scheduled to expand the Anfield Road stand of Liverpool’s home ground will be pushed back due to the impact of recent events.
With the severity of current affairs affecting the world of football, Liverpool’s hopes to expand their stadium later this year have been forced to a standstill.
The club are looking to boost Anfield’s capacity to over 61,000 after they announced plans to construct a new 16,000 seat Anfield Road stand valued at £60million (via The Guardian).
Liverpool fans are disheartened with the news that the new stand must be put on hold, particularly after the uncertainty surrounding the current Premier League season. The Reds are currently 25 points clear at the top of the league table and could have potentially been crowned 2019/20 winners already. But the effects of current affairs mean the Merseyside outfit must wait longer for their first top-flight title in 30 years, and now for their new stand.
One fan is especially upset over Joyce’s update, saying that ‘the bad news keeps coming’.
