Liverpool are among four clubs reportedly targeting Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to reports from Italy.
Calciomercato reported that the Reds were joined by Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona in showing an interest in the 23-year-old Spain international.
Having come to Napoli from Real Betis in summer 2018, he made 40 appearances for them last season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
Ruiz played against the Reds twice last season in the Champions League group stage and could face them again in the coming weeks, with the two clubs once again paired in the same group in the competition.
Former Liverpool and Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso spoke out in praise of the Napoli man earlier this year, saying that his manager Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with the 23-year-old’s performances for the Serie A side. [via casanapoli.net]
Alonso said of Ruiz: “He has great quality in playing the ball with speed and his way of interpreting football also helps his teammates.” [via casanapoli.net]
These Liverpool fans on Twitter feel that Ruiz would be a fine addition to the Reds’ squad:
he is the player we need ,probably the best midfielder in serie A,spain regular ,dictates the pace of the game, great eye for goal & pass with great composure & workrate.
