Liverpool: Fans want to see Steven Gerrard in the newly-formed Premier League Hall of Fame

Loads of Liverpool fans have been pleading for club legend Steven Gerrard to be added to the newly-formed Premier League Hall of Fame.

The Premier League (per their official website) revealed that it will recognise and reward players that have been exceptional over the years in England’s top tier. Inductees can only be retired from the game, with just a player’s Premier League career judged upon. The Kop faithful have already been having their say as to who should go in from their long list of greats over the years.

It was obvious, but Steven Gerrard came to mind immediately for the majority of fans. The Kop.com posted a compilation on Twitter (via @TheKop_com) of some of his greatest goals for the Merseysiders. In a career that saw him win the Champions League in Istanbul, he scored 186 goals and provided 115 assists in 710 outings, as per TransferMarkt. This places him third in the all-time top appearances list behind Jamie Carragher (737) and Ian Callaghan (857).

Unsurprisingly, supporters were quick to issue their thoughts on social media. One fan said that he should be the first man on the list, while another simply described him as “legendary”.
