The Japan international will officially become a Reds player on 1st January 2020 after finalising his personal terms and completing his medical on Wednesday.
Minamino is familiar with Jurgen Klopp’s side, having faced them twice in the Champions League group stages and scored during his side’s 4-3 defeat against the Merseyside club.
While he begins life at Anfield, he brings to an end his long-term spell at RB Salzburg after five years at the Austrian outfit. He scored 64 goals in 199 appearances for Dir Mozartstader and has earned 22 caps for his country.
Klopp wanted to bolster his attacking line and Minamino can play in any position within the front three, with his preferred role being on the right-hand side.
Supporters were ecstatic about the club’s announcement and made their feelings clear on social media. One Twitter user even suggested that the club have now finally replaced Philippe Coutinho.
