Liverpool: Fans go wild over transfer links with David Alaba

A number of Liverpool fans have expressed their delight with reports linking the club with Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.

The 28-year-old centre-back has been a regular for the Bundesliga giants over several seasons, picking up nine league titles and making almost 400 appearances for the club (TransferMarkt).

With Virgil van Dijk out for a significant amount of time and Joel Matip struggling to keep fit, Fabinho recently joined them both in the treatment room after pulling up during his side’s 2-0 win against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League.

This has left manager Jurgen Klopp with a nightmarish selection headache as his defensive injury crosis grows. However, after Alaba recently rejected a new deal at Bayern, the door has opened for Liverpool to make their move for him (via Football Insider), with the Austria international’s contract due to expire next June (TransferMarkt).

Unsurprisingly, many Reds supporters are quite excited over the possibility of Alaba, who one fan described as a “class player”, moving to the reigning Premier League champions and begged for the club to move for him once the transfer window opens in January.
