Though their summer business was dwarfed by their North West neighbours, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waxing poetic over their new arrivals.
So, following reports from the Guardian claiming midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum would be ruled out of their Monday Night Football clash with arch rivals Manchester United next week have come as a blow.
The 25-year-old is thought to have injured his hamstring as the Netherlands took on France last night, reportedly making him a major doubt for the bitter clash at Anfield.
He was hauled off midway through the second-half in Amsterdam after going down clutching his right leg.
Having joined from Newcastle United for around £25m over the course of the summer, the ex-PSV Eindhoven skipper has struggled to wholly convince in England.
Still, he has been growing into his role of late and looks like a good foil for the likes of Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson in Jurgen Klopp’s engine room.
How important is Wijnaldum to the Reds? Let us know below…
