With Marko Grujic and Sheyi Ojo already shipped off on loan by Liverpool this summer, it is seemingly likely that more names could be joining the list of talent sent away from Anfield for the year.
And Hull City are a side who could be getting two of Liverpool’s youngsters for next season, with Goal reporting that the Championship club are interested in bringing in both Herbie Kane and Ben Woodburn to the KCOM Stadium for the season.
The duo are no strangers to going out on loan for the season, with Kane enjoying a successful period away from Anfield at Doncaster Rovers last year where the midfielder was influential in the club’s run to the League One play-off semi-finals, earning him a spot in the EFL Team of the Season, whereas Woodburn was recalled from Sheffield United in the January window.
With newly appointed Hull boss Grant McCann familiar with Kane given their season together at Doncaster, it makes sense as to why Hull are interested in bringing in the Liverpool midfielder for the year.
The 20-year-old played 49 games in all competitions under McCann last season, scoring seven goals and assisting 10, and with the midfielder impressing in League One a step-up to the Championship seems like the most logical step in Kane’s career, and even more so to play under a manager who is already familiar with the youngster.
For Woodburn, though, a move to Hull could be a good way of getting his young career back on track.
With McCann favouring a 4-3-3 system based on formations Doncaster used last season via Transfermarkt, the Liverpool youngster could be used in either his favoured position on the wing (picked up on by Chronicle Live) or a more central role, and after failing to make an impact at the Blades, this could be another chance for the Reds’ youngest ever goalscorer to prove himself.
Clearly a talent rated highly at Anfield (Jurgen Klopp told the club’s official website via Sky Sports back in January that he’s an ‘outstanding talent’), getting himself back into senior football would surely be beneficial for his development.
The two Liverpool youngsters both had dramatically different years away from Anfield last season, and it will be interesting to see how the duo get on at Hull if the Championship side are able to secure loan-deals for the two Merseyside prospects.
