In our Loan Watch feature series, the Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at how a selection of players from a particular club are faring whilst they are away from their parent side, and provide a brief update regarding their form.
This week, we profile three players on loan from Liverpool to other English-based clubs, all of whom are operating in either the Premier League or Championship.
Harry Wilson
Harry Wilson gave Bournemouth the lead in their Premier League trip to Newcastle on Saturday but the home side came from behind to win 2-1.
It was the 22-year-old’s fourth goal in 11 games in his loan spell with the Cherries and his first in nearly two months. [via TransferMarkt]
The winger made his ninth Premier League start of the season in the defeat at St James’ Park, in which he was substituted on 66 minutes and replaced by ex-Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke (as per TransferMarkt).
Ovie Ejaria
Ovie Ejaria was also on the scoresheet over the weekend but, unlike Wilson, he had the satisfaction of tasting victory as Reading thrashed Luton 3-0 in the Championship.
The 21-year-old midfielder scored the Royal’s second goal of the afternoon in the 30th minute with an angled drive that sailed past the visitors’ goalkeeper James Shea, as per Sky Sports.
Ejaria, who has started 13 times in the league this season, has now been involved in goals in his last three games, having provided assists against QPR and Millwall recently. However, Saturday was the first time that he found the net since August, taking his goals tally for the season to three. [via WhoScored]
Kamil Grabara
It was a disappointing weekend for Kamil Grabara and Huddersfield, with the goalkeeper beaten three times in the Terriers’ Championship defeat at Preston on Saturday.
The 20-year-old made his 15th league start of the season in the 3-1 loss at Deepdale, conceding as many goals that day as he had in his previous five games combined. [via WhoScored]
The Poland under-21 international made just one save on Saturday afternoon, although his 75% passing success rate was an enormous improvement on his last three games.
From a Liverpool perspective, it is refreshing to see each of the three players profiled above featuring regularly for their respective clubs while out on loan from Anfield.
Wilson and Ejaria will surely be pleased to get back among the goals after barren spells, although Grabara must have been disappointed to concede three as Huddersfield’s revival stalled.
It still looks a tall order for the trio to break into the starting line-up at their parent club, given the Reds’ outstanding form, but at least they’re all getting plenty of first-team experience this season.
