Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern enjoying the landlord’s new special are excitedly discussing the potential return of a club legend.
The Independent state Jurgen Klopp has held discussions with former Reds captain Steven Gerrard and the former England international is set for a Merseyside return; potentially in a playing role to bolster the midfield options.
Departing in the summer upon the expiration of his contract with Liverpool, Gerrard spent four-months playing in the MLS with LA Galaxy- which ended in disappointment after they were knocked-out of the finals at the play-off stage.
Gerrard is set to arrive in England today, with his MLS season finishing last week, but Liverpool would have to pay a fee for his services as LA Galaxy are not prepared to sanction a loan deal– despite David Beckham featuring for AC Milan on two separate occasions during his stint with the American franchise.
Klopp believes Gerrard can provide a boost to his training ground at Melwood and the pair are set to meet face-to-face for the first-team next week.
Liverpool fans, does your midfield still have a spot for Steven Gerrard? Let us know in the comments below!
