Liverpool will no doubt be bitterly disappointed with the news that their move for Lyon forward Nabil Fekir has been cancelled, and they will now hope to move on and identify new targets.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is clearly in the mood for getting his business done early, as he looks to build on the momentum of getting to the final of the Champions League and finally lead the Reds to a first Premier League title.
The club will be now be looking to move on from Fekir, and our punters here in the Tavern think that the club need to make a move for a central striker to help Roberto Firmino.
One player they have been talking about in some detail this week is former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who they believe could well take Liverpool’s attack to another level.
Valued at a hefty £36m by Transfermarkt, he falls well within the bracket of player the Reds have been looking at, and with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane either side of him, he could be a welcome addition at Anfield.
Batshuayi has smashed in seven goals in just ten appearances since making the move to Germany, and despite being a Chelsea player, the Blues might well be open to the striker moving on.
At times Liverpool looked short of options when Roberto Firmino was off the boil or injured, and the signing of a proper number nine like Batshuayi, would give the Reds another option in terms of their striking choices.
Liverpool fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
