Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are horrified to hear the latest news in the Daily Star who claim the Merseyside giants could turn to Judas himself – Fernando Torres – in attempt to solve their goal drought.

The struggling Spaniard is currently on a two-year loan spell to AC Milan from Chelsea following a torrid time at Stamford Bridge but the Italian giants are keen to cancel his contract after Torres only scored one goal in ten appearances.

Jose Mourinho will have hoped he would recapture the same form which led to the Blues initially forking out £50 million to sign him from the Reds back in 2011.

But sadly that has not happened and Brendan Rodgers is willing to take another risk after already gambling on former Rossoneri star himself Mario Balotelli.

There is no room for Torres back at Chelsea after Mourinho signed Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba so a move back to Anfield could well be on the cards for El Nino.

Rodgers will hope he can work with Torres and get the best out of him with the Spaniard recapturing the form which made him one of the most potent strikers in world football.
