They’ve revealed Anfield icon Steven Gerrard has landed a role on the club’s coaching staff following his retirement from football after leaving LA Galaxy.
Perhaps the biggest Liverpool legend of the modern era, the 36-year-old is expected to help bring through their brightest youngsters as his career behind the scenes takes its first major step.
Top brass on Merseyside are understood to view the ex-England skipper as a potential manager in the future and it is reportedly hoped that moving into the Kop academy can help start such a process.
He, along with the likes of Michael Owen, Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler, all came through that academy to huge success and Gerrard will now try to replicate that with burgeoning talents.
