Liverpool are keen on bringing Werder Bremen midfielder Milot Rashica to Anfield during the summer transfer window, according to reports.
According to German outlet Bild, the Reds have watched the player several times during the 2019/20 campaign as his side currently sit inside the relegation zone of the Bundesliga. The report also suggested that his departure is inevitable, regardless of whether they remain in Germany’s top tier or not, and has a release clause of £31.5m. Rashica is a Kosovo international with 25 caps but has also played for Albania twice and featured at all youth levels of Albanian football before making the switch.
He recently featured against England during his side’s 4-0 defeat against the Three Lions last November and has been described as a ‘hot commodity‘ at Die Werderaner. With 10 goals in 21 appearances during the current campaign, he does look to be an effective attacking outlet,
Rashica has played in a variety of positions this season. He can play in the No. 10 position, on either win and even as an out-and-out striker, but has scored four goals and provided two assists from the left-hand side, according to WhoScored. His dribbling and crossing could be a catalyst in breaking into the Liverpool team in the future or providing suitable and better backup for the Reds’ infamous trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool will almost certainly look for cover in the summer and aim to bolster their attacking options, and Rashica could fill a potential void. With Takumi Minamino and Xherdan Shaqiri already acting the backup men, the Kosovan could feature while the likes of Mane and Salah are playing in the Africa Cup of Nations at the midway point of next season, making the need to sign wide options ideal.
With a price of just £31.5m, Jurgen Klopp could do a lot worse and should certainly be considered bringing in during the summer.
