Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been mocking their Arsenal counterparts, after reading reports that the Reds are set to win the race for a highly-coveted defender.
The Daily Mirror claims Arsenal will miss out on the services of Leicester City’s young left-back Ben Chilwell, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp set to win the race for the talented teenager.
18-year-old Chilwell has been a target of Arsenal’s since January, with the Gunners considering him as the ideal successor to veteran full-back Nacho Monreal, but Liverpool boss Klopp wants the youngster as competition for Alberto Moreno, who put in a horror show defensively during Liverpool’s Europa League final defeat to Sevilla.
Liverpool can land the player for just £3m but it remains to be seen whether he’ll slot straight into the first-team, as he has made just three cup appearances for Leicester and is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League.
Our landlord believes choosing between Liverpool and Arsenal as a youngster is a very tough call, so he’s urged Chilwell to take his time deciding on his destination.
Would Chilwell be better than Alberto Moreno? Let us know in the comments below!
