Liverpool have begun talks with RB Leipzig over the potential signing of Germany striker Timo Werner, who is keen on a possible move to Anfield.
That is according to Ian McGarry, who was speaking on the Reach PLC Transfer Window podcast [via Daily Express].

McGarry claimed on the podcast [via Daily Express] that contact has been made between the two clubs and that the 23-year-old would favour a move to Merseyside, adding that Manchester United are also targeting the striker, who is valued at £58.5m on TransferMarkt.
Werner has seemingly been of interest to Liverpool for several months. Last March, German publication Kicker claimed that the Reds had been linked with the player, with RB Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff stating that the club would not be obliged to sell him in the following summer.
Prior to tonight’s DFB-Pokal clash against Wolfsburg, Werner had scored eight goals in 13 games for his club this season, with an overall record of 69 goals in 127 appearances for RB Leipzig.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter gave their firm approval to the possibility of the 23-year-old moving to Anfield next year:
Perfect solution.
