The Daily Mirror have managed to seriously disappoint Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they seem to think that the Reds will not be spending any money this January.
As one of our punters notes over a beer and a burger special after winning a game of darts, the Reds could do with at least one forward and a defender coming into the club to give the Reds an extra boost as they head into the second half of the season.
However, it seems that according to Brendan Rodgers, all will be quiet on the Merseyside front.
When speaking to talkSPORT, Rodgers noted: “There are players who are linked with Liverpool all the time. That may be agents looking to get their player a move. For us, it will be pretty quiet.”
We think this will ultimately prove a mistake but as our wise landlord notes, all too often clubs panic and manage to spend big bucks in the January window only to see their new arrivals flop rather dramatically.
After all, Liverpool fans wince at the sheer mention of the two words ‘Andy’ and ‘Carroll’ here by the bar.
Despite this, links to the likes of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema seem to be continuing and our punters note that anything can happen until that transfer window slams shut on February 2nd this year.
