Metro have Chelsea and Liverpool fans looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They have claimed that the Reds could well be set to offer Ashley Cole a Premier League lifeline.
Brendan Rodgers and his men are considering offering the defender – who is out of contract in the summer – a deal to join them.
One of our punters notes that Jose Mourinho this week claimed that Cole has a future at Stamford Bridge, and as we know, a move to the MLS is not out of the question either.
If Cole was to pen a new deal at Chelsea, he would have to accept the fact that he would not be a first choice player, and would most probably have to sit on the bench for the majority of the big games.
That would not be the case at Liverpool, who are keen to bring in a left back and already have former Chelsea man Glen Johnson at right back.
Over a game of pool, one of our punters points out that Brendan Rodgers knows Cole well, as he was of course part of the back room staff at the Blues before making the switch in becoming a manager himself.
Can you really see this move coming to fruition? Let us know your thoughts below.
