Here in the Football Transfer Tavern Liverpool fans are looking relatively impressed with the claim that Club Call are reporting on as the summer approaches.
The club have already seen Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers’ positive approach to the transfer market when he netted Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window and now are looking forward to the summer where again big signings will be made.
The club have made landing a replacement for Jamie Carragher a top priority and have been linked to a host of players most notably one of Rodgers’ former players Ashley Williams who is not adverse to linking up with his former manager again at Liverpool. The club are aware that they may have to fight it out with not only Arsenal but also Swansea themselves for the star who the Welsh club are keen to keep hold of.
Despite finishing below Everton yet again, Rodgers remains upbeat as the season draws to a close and has claimed that: “I think we can have an exciting season next year,” he said.
“We can build towards that but we need more depth, we need some more [players] in the summer. “If we can do that we will be looking to make a real sustainable challenge next year for the top four.”
