Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that next year is finally their year when it comes to truly challenging for the Premier League title under Jurgen Klopp, after this season’s foundation building block. It’s been a long time coming, with some of their play under the German being simply enthralling to watch.

Liverpool have looked every bit a Premier League winning team at times throughout this campaign, however, this is usually balanced out with a terrible display like the Swansea City match following the fantastic Man City win in the league. So. if Liverpool want to be a genuine Premier League title contender, they have to have a massive shakeup within their team and Jurgen Klopp must reveal a ruthless streak in his quest for his first trophy during his Anfield tenure, according to many of the punters at the bar.

Our regulars feel that a few key signings next season could prove the difference between fighting for the top four and fighting for the title, although this has to be off-setted with outgoings to balance the books.

With that in mind, our landlord has taken a look at THREE players who should be moved on for the good of the team and the club’s future…

Simon Mignolet

Liverpool will get nowhere fast in the league if they opt for Mignolet as the No.1 ‘keeper, despite the confusion over who actually is the first choice under Klopp this season. Our glass collector has been taking a look back at the Premier League winning teams and everyone has had a reliable, world-class keeper at the back, creating the first rock of a winning foundation, so it’s obviously of huge importance.

With that in mind, Klopp absolutely should look to replace Mignolet has his number one priority in the summer.

Jordan Henderson

England midfielder and club captain is having an indifferent season of his own. Many of the regulars at times have been on his back about his style of play, although sometimes he can show what a quality player he can be for the club.

If Henderson wants to progress, it seems a move away from the Anfield spotlight may be the smartest move for his career at this moment in time with Klopp looking at possibly changing direction in terms of team selection. Clearly, a helpful player at times, being the man to replace Steven Gerrard as captain of Liverpool was never going to be an easy challenge.

Danny Ings

It seems as if Klopp looks to Ings as his number one back up striker to Roberto Firmino, following the departure of Daniel Sturridge in January. Still, with Ings’ history of injuries and lack of games over the years since his move from Burnley, our punters believe that, if Klopp wants to challenge for the title next year, he needs a deadly second striker of a similar ability level as Firmino.

Ings is more of a mid-table striker and Liverpool needs top four quality on the pitch and on the bench to succeed.
