The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern are in for an exciting summer. Liverpool legend and former England captain, Steven Gerrard hasn’t wasted any time in the transfer window, having already brought in Scott Arfield and Alan McGregor. The latter of those two has been speaking to the Rangers website, and our local Gers couldn’t agree more with his comments.
McGregor on Gerrard: “Hopefully he will bring that winning mentality back. I’m not saying we’ve not had that, I’m just saying consistently you need to make this place a fortress where nobody wants to come.

The 36-year-old shot-stopper is rejoining the club he came through at after six years away from Ibrox, having left Glasgow for Istanbul when he joined Besiktas in summer 2012. The veteran ‘keeper spent eight years as a Ger between 2002 and 2012 and has been in the Championship with Hull City and then on loan at Cardiff in the last five years, but now the fabs will be delighted to see him returning home.
Some of the first comments he’s made since agreeing to his Rangers return have made it look like he never left. McGregor claimed that Gerrard needs to help get that winning mentality back within the squad and that they need to make Ibrox a consistent fortress that their rivals don’t want to be travelling to. The Bluenoses are unlikely to claw back the gap between themselves and Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic, but they’ll need the experience of McGregor to help them go in the right direction.

He dives to the left, he dives to the right, Allan McGregor was on the sun beds all of last night.
