Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren is not the most popular man on Merseyside, it would be fair to say.
The Croatia international has actually been a good servant for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp, and he has had his moments – he has appeared in a Champions League final, a World Cup final and scored a crucial goal against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League in 2016 as the Anfield outfit made the final of that competition – but the overall quality of his performances have left a lot to be desired.

He also has a history of being controversial. In 2018, when he reached the final of Europe’s biggest competition and then the world’s, he call himself one of the best defenders on the planet (beIN Sports via Sky Sports). Now, he has arguably topped that by calling the current pandemic a hoax in a series of Instagram posts (via Empire of the Kop).

The Reds supporters have been reacting to these most recent comments, and it is fair to say they have absolutely hammered him as a result – one fan called him a “liability” whilst another said his words were “inexcusable“. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best quotes from the social media platform below.
God, I hate him. Like, really really despise him. Didn’t think he could be more embarrassing off the pitch than on, but fair play to him, he’s managed it. https://t.co/gFW4biDHvn

1. Inexcusable from Lovren and gives authenticity to this nonsense. Club got to look at its social media guidelines. 2. Replies to this shows how many morons there are out there. https://t.co/flEPkKufaj
