Everton will need to be at their best from here on in until the end of the season if they are to stand any chance of securing a European spot, as a lack of consistency really hasn’t helped their push.
Marcel Brands may have a big job on his hands to sort out a number of key positions in the summer transfer window, as things have been far from perfect in the current campaign.
However, the Toffees recently suffered a potentially huge setback on the injury front.
What’s the news?
According to The Sun, Everton are sweating on the fitness of Lucas Digne after he pulled out of the France squad with a thigh injury.
The Frenchman suffered the injury during training and it led to him missing France’s 4-1 victory against Moldova on Friday night. And, the problem has proved serious enough for the 25-year-old left-back to also miss their second Euro 2020 qualifier against Iceland on Monday.
Digne has been nothing short of fantastic in the current campaign, so he’d be the last player that fans and players would want to see absent in the Premier League.
The Verdict:

Digne’s injury will come as a potentially huge blow as the Toffees need their best players on the field in all of their remaining fixtures if they are to meet their aims. The Frenchman has been a level above most players at the club and his defensive qualities could prove crucial from here on in, so they could suffer if he misses a number of games.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has proved to be one of the signings of the summer and he’s cured what was Everton’s problem position at left-back, so it comes as no surprise that everyone is in awe of the defender.
Everton fans, how big of a blow could Digne’s injury be?
