Lucas Digne’s latest injury could be a concern for Everton

The international break can be a club’s worst enemy at times, can’t it? Everton will have become the latest side to have been infuriated with it as one of their key players looks set to return to Goodison Park on the treatment table.

Lucas Digne had been called up to the France National Team for their European Championship qualifiers against Moldova and Iceland, however, it would appear that he is unlikely to feature at all for them.

What’s the News?

According to a report by L’Equipe (via Sport Witness), the left-back is set to undergo medical ‘exams’ to try and find out the extent of his injury after suffering a hamstring injury in training prior to the game against Moldova.

It is understood Les Bleus are not optimistic about him being able to feature for them in their match against Iceland either.

The Verdict:

Everton will be hopeful that Digne is not going to be out for too long, as he has been a vital member of Marco Silva’s side this season.

Having joined from Barcelona in the summer, the 25-year-old has been one of the club’s more impressive additions and has integrated himself as a key figure, who has an excellent ability to go forward, creating chances and scoring goals.

With a match against West Ham United at the weekend when the Premier League returns, he is someone that the Goodison Park outfit will need to have on the pitch if they are to have a better chance of recording a win and closing the gap between them and the Hammers in the table.

Leighton Baines could have to step in for the France international should he have to, however, he has not looked too solid at times and severely lacks any real game-time this season due to the arrival of Digne.
