Lucas Torreira expected to feature against Newcastle

Arsenal will have been boosted with a timely injury update following concerns after one of their players had to withdraw from international duty.

According to Ben Dinnery, who is a freelance injury analyst, Lucas Torreira is expected to feature for the Gunners when they head to St. James’ Park at the weekend to face Newcastle United.

The midfielder had been withdrawn from the Uruguay squad following an apparent injury against Mexico, however, it has now been revealed that it was just a precaution and will now look to be in contention for their Premier League match.

There were fears that his injury could have been serious, however, Unai Emery and his team will be pleased that the player has not suffered any lasting damage and remains an option for their trip to Tyneside.

Torreira is yet to start a match for the Arsenal since his summer move from Sampdoria, however, he has featured from the substitutes bench in all four of their Premier League fixtures so far.

The Verdict:

Emery and Arsenal will be delighted that Torreira is still in contention for their trip to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners are heading for a busy month of football, with the Europa League set to start, as well as Premier League games beginning to come thick and fast.

The 22-year-old will be looking to make inroads into his career at the Emirates Stadium and he may now have the chance to do so against Rafa Benitez’s Magpies.
