Make it quick: The 2 players that Man City should make an early move for this summer

Manchester City fans are anticipating a strong showing in the transfer market and it’s safe to say that if the start they have made is anything to go by, everyone in the Transfer Tavern can expect a busy summer from the blue half of Manchester in this window.

The Portuguese playmaker, Bernardo Silva, has already arrived through the doors of the Etihad Stadium in a signing that has surely signalled Pep Guardiola’s intent, following a fairly mediocre first season in English football by the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s standards.

The performance of the squad really raised questions in the Tavern and our landlord feels Guardiola will react by overhauling his squad this summer.

There has already been many departures from the Etihad in Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Jesus Navas and the City fans in the Tavern are yearning for high quality replacements.

They believe the attraction of Guardiola and Champions League football will bring the very best to their club and cannot wait to see which deals are sealed this summer.

Our landlord has joined in the debate and he has also been speculating over who the Citizens should make an early move for this summer, and some juicy names have occurred among the discussion.

With that said, let’s take a look at the TWO players that will be on City’s radar early this summer…

Kyle Walker

Perhaps the worst kept secret in football at the minute is City being interested in Kyle Walker, but our landlord believes that the longer this transfer story drags on, the less likely it will become that Walker signs for the Citizens.

Of course, the departure of Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna now means Pep Guardiola is desperate for a right back but could Walker’s club, Spurs, use this as leverage in order to get a better deal for themselves.

One thing is for sure, our resident City fans are getting restless over this move and want to see it finalised sooner rather than later.

Virgil van Dijk

Another transfer story that has been dragging since January, our landlord knows van Dijk is leaving Southampton this summer but is not sure on his destination.

City seems to be one of these destinations and our landlord has encouraged Guardiola to seal the deal sooner rather than later before the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool become a hindrance to the deal.

The Dutchman would be a great option at centre half at the Etihad, and would give City the strength in depth in that position that they have craved over the past couple seasons.
