Manchester City: Fans excited by transfer links with Leon Bailey

A number of Manchester City fans have given their approval to a transfer report linking them with a possible move for Leon Bailey.

The Daily Mail reported that the Premier League champions have targeted the Bayer Leverkusen winger, rated at £40m by his club, as a potential replacement for Leroy Sane, who has been linked with a summer move to Bayern Munich (as per The Telegraph). The news was subsequently shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra.

The 22-year-old Jamaican has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit this season and, while primarily a left winger, can operate anywhere across the forward line or as an attacking midfielder (as per TransferMarkt). He managed one shot and one key pass during a 24-minute substitute appearance in his team’s 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Bailey has also struck up a friendship with Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling, who was also born in Jamaica and who has been described by the Bayer Leverkusen player as his “big brother”. [via besoccer.com]
