Man City join battle with Premier League rivals as mega-money race heats up

Man City punters in the Transfer Tavern are licking their lips this evening, and not just because they know how tasty the landlord’s extra-strong ale is.

According to Mirror Football, the Citizens have joined the race to sign Torino’s prodigious strike sensation Andrea Belotti during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old impressed during his debut season in Turin, finishing 2015/16 with 12 Serie A strikes, but has stepped up a gear this term to net 27 times since last summer – including 22 goals in the Italian top flight and three during his first five outings for the Italian national team.

Consequentially, the Azzurri assassin looks set to be hot property come the end of the campaign, especially after agreeing an £86million release clause for non-Italian clubs as part of his new contract in January.

Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be interested, but the latest reports from Mirror Football also put Manchester City in the frame to swoop for the 5 foot 11 forward.

Accordingly, Citizens fans in the Transfer Tavern are mooting Belotti as a potential successor to Sergio Aguero, who has endured a mixed season under Pep Guardiola compared to his usual indispensable status within the starting line-up.
