Man City looking to revamp striking options

lewandowski.jpgManchester City manager Roberto Mancini caused a stir in the Football Transfer Tavern this weekend by setting his sights on two new strikers in the shape of Robert Lewandowski and Gonzalo Huguain according to the Daily Mirror.

Mancini is clearly unhappy over the contribution of his current strikers this season and City have fallen a whopping 15 points behind rivals Manchester United in the title race.

Sergio Aguero has been up top on his own at times in City’s new 4-5-1 system that has left him isolated and Carlos Tevez has grown frustrated at playing second fiddle.

Edin Dzeko has made a decent impact as a sub at times this season but when given the chance to start, he hasn’t taken it.

The departure of Mario Balotelli has opened up one spot to fill in the summer but Mancini wants two new faces in his front line to enable him to challenge both domestically and in Europe.

Lewandowski looks set to leave Dortmund in the summer but City will have a tough fight on their hands with runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich already expressing their interest with Pep Guardiola taking over there next season.

Higuain may be a viable option for the Citizens as Real Madrid look set to miss out on La Liga and Champions League glory this season leaving a whole host of players disillusioned with life in the Spanish capital.

Will City be able to snatch at least one of the striking pair in the summer? Rate this rumour below.
