Man City ready to follow up Laporte deal with another signing – Report

Jack Harrison

Manchester City fans here in the Tavern are over the moon with the position they find themselves in, as they begin to look at signing future stars of the game.

Pep Guardiola has given Manchester City fans a season to remember, filled with breaking records, dominant performances and topped off with taking up pole position for the Premier League title. Indeed, life couldn’t get any better for the Citizens, which has allowed for their attention to turn to the future as they look to prepare for years of success to come. As according to reports in the Mail Online, Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Jack Harrison from New York City, to then loan him to Middlesbrough immediately.

It’s believed that the fee sufficient for the services of the 21-year-old will be somewhere in the region of £4 million. This, after Stoke City failed to agree a fee with the New York side after originally making a £3.25 million bid for the winger. Although, Pep won’t complain as he looks to have taken another one of England’s biggest prospects under his wing, with the possibility of having Harrison and Phil Foden in the same team becoming a frightening prospect.

In a season that’s been full of achievements for the New York City man, he earned a call-up to the England U-21 squad earlier this year and paved the way for himself to become one of the stars in the MLS. And, as a former academy product of both Liverpool and Manchester United, it’ll make it all the more sweeter to land someone who has previous with their bitter rivals.

Landlord’s Verdict:

The signing of Jack Harrison is a very smart one from Guardiola, as a player that could potentially have a huge say for both club and country in the future. Although, fans will be hoping that this isn’t a repeat of Patrick Roberts, with high hopes in the progression and the future of the 21-year-old.  Nevertheless, a signing that will see City rewarded with a player that’s torn apart a competitive MLS, while still having bags of potential still yet to be unlocked.
