There’s been a lot of talk in the Transfer Tavern this season about one of the Premier League’s finest breakthrough stars but his manager is urging him not to get carried away.
The Daily Star state Leicester City boss has ruled-out a big-money exit for in-form star Riyad Mahrez, urging his player to continue ‘growing up’ with the Foxes.
24-year-old Mahrez has set the Premier League alight this season, helping the Foxes sit astonishingly in third spot in the table, with his performances attracting title-chasers Arsenal and Manchester United.
However Ranieri, who took charge of Leicester during the summer, has urged Mahrez to focus on his career with the Foxes and to continue his development with his squad this season. He told a press conference:
“I think it is important for him to continue with us and to learn more. It is one thing to play for Leicester and another to play at the highest level.”
“When you arrive at the top, when you play well it is normal, so you must do something more. It is another very important step so it is important he grows up with me, here.”
Foxes supporters at the bar are accepting that Mahrez is destined for bigger things but hope the Algerian, who sensationally cost Leicester just £400k, will finish the season with the Midlands outfit.
