Man United and Chelsea to battle for African powerhouse

The Man Utd and the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would love to see their club sign him…

Both Man Utd and Chelsea have struggled somewhat defensively this season, and it would appear that the clubs are seeking to amend that issue in January.

According to the Mirror, Sunderland defender Lamine Kone is in-demand – with the likes of Chelsea, Everton, West Ham and Manchester United all monitoring his situation ahead of a potential January move.

Kone, who has been one of the very few bright lights in Sunderland’s otherwise very disappointing season, was touted for a move over the summer – with Chelsea reportedly keen then – but a move did not happen.

The Ivorian defender has been a near constant for Sunderland so far this season, having already made 8 league appearances. Sunderland themselves have struggled, and are still in search of their first win of the season in the Premier League.

Our landlord thinks that whilst David Moyes will no doubt be desperate to hold on to Kone – he could be powerless to resist if the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea enter the fray.

Likewise, the Chelsea and Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are confident that a deal could get done – and they think it could be a matter of who gets in there first come January.

The Sunderland fans in the Tavern are very concerned about this. Many of them feel that their season will be done for if they lose Kone – who they feel is their best player.
