Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are preparing for a huge week, as they tackle Swansea City in the Premier League today before turning their attentions towards their Europa League semi-final clash with Celta Vigo.
Whilst the Red Devils remain in the hunt for a top-four finish, they face a stern test to qualify for the Champions League via the league route but have another avenue towards qualification for Europe’s elite competition via the Europa League.
Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Jose Mourinho needs to bolster his squad significantly to be more competitive next year and the defence is likely to be focused on, as the Portuguese boss eyes a top-class central defensive partner for Eric Bailly.
According to The Sun, Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is a target for United as Mourinho seeks to raid his former club for the services of the young French defender who has found opportunities difficult to come by under Antonio Conte this term.
Zouma has found himself behind David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order, whilst he faces further competition for places from Nathan Ake- and the Blues are reportedly eyeing fresh names this summer.
Our landlord believes Zouma would be the perfect signing for Mourinho’s United but doesn’t see a deal going ahead between these two Premier League rivals.
Should Chelsea allow Zouma to move to Manchester United? Let us know in the comments below!
