Manchester United fans are looking a little bit excited here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Mundo Deportivo claim Angel Di Maria could well be on his way to England in the next 48 hours.

As one of our regulars claims, this is the best indication yet that a £50 million move for the Argentine is seriously about to happen, and this is despite the winger being named as Real Madrid’s best player by Diego Simeone after making a real difference in the Spanish Copa first leg.

Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is also keen to keep Di Maria, but the Real Madrid board are not willing to keep a player they no longer see as someone who could get into the first team week in week out after the signing of James.

And when an amount like £50 million is on the table, we can understand why.

Manchester United and manager Louis van Gaal would be making a major signing and we would love to see Di Maria in the Premier League!
