Man Utd and Chelsea firmly in the race for 22-goal forward

The fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting this summer to be a busy one in the Premier League…

Whilst the Premier League has been full of action this summer, the race at the top of the table has been somewhat straight forward. Chelsea have led the way for much of the campaign, and with time quickly running out for Antonio Conte’s managerial rivals – the Blues look destined to take home the gold at the end of the season.

Below Chelsea, it has been somewhat more competitive – but that is more down to a lack of quality rather than a sustained competitiveness – with sides often trading wins with each other throughout the season.

What does this mean, exactly? Well, it means that the sides at the top of the Premier League table are likely to invest heavily over the close-season, as they look to improve their squads – and it appears as though Chelsea and Man Utd have already begun that process.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Chelsea and Man Utd are firmly in the race to sign Torino forward Andrea Belotti – who has been on fire this season.

His release clause reportedly stands around the €100 million mark – and according to the Italian publication – this is a price that is affordable for both clubs.

The deal certainly makes sense, given that Belotti has scored a whopping 22 goals this season. From Chelsea’s perspective, Diego Costa’s future is uncertain, to say the least – whilst Man Utd have recently suffered a blow in pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

He certainly wouldn’t be a cheap option, but with goals, assists and skills aplenty this season – our landlord thinks that he would surely be a star in the Premier League.
