Manchester United monitoring “excellent” England international

Manchester United have invested heavily in rebuilding their squad in recent transfer windows, with major additions made in both attack and midfield.

The Red Devils brought in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko during the summer of 2025, before strengthening the engine room with Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba and Andrey Santos this summer.

Now, it appears their attention could be turning towards another area of the team.

Manchester United ‘monitoring’ Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester United have renewed their interest in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite after monitoring his performances this season, according to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has impressed under David Moyes and his displays have been enough to earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad. Moyes is also a major admirer of the centre-back and has previously described him as “excellent”.

Branthwaite has been on United’s radar for some time, with the club understood to have followed his progress for at least two years. His recent form has now prompted Michael Carrick’s side to consider whether they could make another approach for the defender next summer.

Much could depend on Everton’s stance, particularly given Branthwaite’s importance to Moyes’ team. The defender has endured fitness problems, missing 31 matches in all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign after suffering several hamstring injuries.

Those concerns have not stopped him from reclaiming his place in the Everton side, though, and he has once again become an important figure at the heart of their defence.

United will therefore have to assess both his availability and Everton’s willingness to sell before deciding whether to turn their long-standing interest into a formal move.
