The talk in the Transfer Tavern amongst the Man United fans is all about who’s going to lead the line for the Red Devils next season.

The non arrival of Antoine Griezmann will deepen the blow of the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who provided most of United’s attacking threat last season and our landlord believes that a forward is surely highly prioritised by Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward as they look to prepare for a campaign which will see Champions League football return to Old Trafford in the 2017/18 season.

The Red Devils in the Tavern agree that a new striker is needed and the talk from them has been very opinionated as they believe their club to have a blank chequebook which means they can purchase any forward they like. Of course, this is not a reality and the United hierarchy will be vigorously scouting the market to make sure they sign real quality to boost their squad for next season.

With that said, our landlord has been busy after hours in his beer cellar looking at the possible names United can sign this summer.

Let’s take a look at two of the main attackers he has come up with…

Gareth Bale

Whilst the Red Devils have been linked with Bale’s team mate, Alvaro Morata by our landlord, there is no doubt that the possibility of the Welshman moving to Old Trafford is a more exciting prospect for the United punters in the Transfer Tavern.

Bale has struggled with injury in the last year in Madrid and with Real boss, Zinedine Zidane, dropping him for the Champions League final – could Mourinho swoop in for a player that is potentially deemed surplus to requirements by his former club?

Our landlord certainly believes so and really encourages United to make a move for Bale in this summer transfer window.

Harry Kane

If United don’t get one former Spurs talisman, then maybe they should look to sign their current one. Harry Kane is a striker whose pedigree has rocketed through out the last few months and our landlord believes the Englishman is perfect to lead the Manchester United attack.

Trophies is something Kane and Tottenham have seriously lacked in recent years and our resident United fans in the Tavern have already experienced the Mourinho factor with three trophies in the Portuguese manager’s first season at Old Trafford. This is something that may well tempt Kane and if the Red Devils can stump up the funds, it should be a move they really consider making this summer.
