Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking on with little surprise at the latest claim from GiveMeFootball as the publication comments on the link between one of their keepers and a top Serie A side.
Given that Joe Hart is firmly established as the number one keeper for the former Premier League champions, a spot on the bench and a run out in cup games is all back-up keeper Costel Pantilimon can really hope for.
Now given that Fiorentina have been linked with a move for the Romanian stopper, it seems that he will be giving serious consideration to a move.
The keeper himself claimed to be ‘flattered’ by the interest and confided to La Nazione that: “My experience with City hasn’t closed, but I want to speak with the management.
“I am 26 years old, I’m in the middle of my career and I cannot be happy to play five games a season.
“The interest of Fiorentina? My agent deals with this, I just think of working and improving.
“But getting in Serie A would be a dream and some national team-mates, such as Lobont and Chivu, spoke well about Florence.
“And then I met (Matija) Nastasic, a great defender. Let me say that I am happy that two players like (David) Pizarro and (Stefan) Savic have found their feet in Fiorentina.
“I met them here at City and they were on the fringes while now they are in the centre of a project.”
