There will be a few pints spilled amongst Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern tonight as captain Vincent Kompany has stated that he will defy Manuel Pellegrini again.
Jamie Jackson of The Guardian revealed that the Belgium defender defied Pellegrini’s wishes and played through the international break and revealed that he would do it again if a similar situation arose.
Kompany had been out of club football since mid-September with a calf injury with the Chilean coach stating he wasn’t fit to play. However the defender played 58 minutes in the Euro 2016 qualifier with Israel.
He has been omitted from City’s last two matches against Bournemouth and Sevilla before been reinstated for the 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. The Guardian quote Kompany saying:
“For now, the past and the future, it’s always going to be a little bit of a tricky situation,”
“They are two very important teams that have different goals and ambitions and it’s just normal that stuff like this happens. I would not have played if I was not fit. But I’m a professional and I don’t need too much explanation [from the manager].”
“I just deal with it. I dealt with my decision and I didn’t have a problem with it. It’s fine. I work hard, always. I’m always positive for the team. It’s not at [the age of] 29 that I need too much explanation any more.”
