Many Manchester City fans have been reacting on Twitter to the club’s tweet regarding VAR.
Is there seriously something wrong at Manchester City?
Yes
No
The club’s official account quoted a tweet captioned ‘What TV show scene is she watching?’ with a photo of a girl upset at whatever she was looking at on her phone. City’s response was a photo of one of the LED screens in the Etihad showing that VAR had disallowed Raheem Sterling’s goal that would have won the game on aggregate and put City into the Champions League last four– which – of course – is what City’s fans, staff and players thought had been done.
That hasn’t been City’s only run-in with VAR against Tottenham Hotspur. The technology also disallowed Gabriel Jesus’ injury-time winner as the ball brushed Aymeric Laporte’s arm in the build-up.
VAR certainly hasn’t had the best of impressions on some of the Etihad faithful so it would come as no surprise that the tweet did them no favours about having to be reminded with some of the run-ins involving VAR.
