Manchester City: Guardiola drops Erling Haaland injury update

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dropped an update regarding the fitness of Erling Haaland ahead of their Champions League match against Sevilla.

The Lowdown: City back in action

The Manchester club take on Sevilla at the Etihad Stadium for their final Champions League game of the group stage.

Their previous outing in Europe saw the Blues draw 0-0 against Borussia Dortmund, during which Haaland played the first 45 minutes before picking up a foot injury.

Now heading into this latest match, it seems that Guardiola’s side will have to make do without the striker once again after he missed the trip to Leicester.

The Latest: Haaland unavailable for Sevilla clash

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of the game against the Spanish club, Guardiola revealed that the Norwegian is not fit enough to be available for the game, but is hopeful that he’ll be involved for Saturday’s Premier League match against Fulham.

The striker missed City’s previous league match but was able to see his teammates pick up a win as they beat the Foxes 1-0 at the King Power Stadium thanks to a stunning goal from Kevin De Bruyne.

The Verdict: Fingers crossed for Haaland’s return

With 15 appearances under his belt for City across the Premier League and Champions League, the 22-year-old has scored 22 goals and delivered three assists for his side.

This showcases how much of a key attacking figure he is for the Manchester club and why having the £375k-per-week attacker back fit as soon as possible will be such a positive for them.

Are you confident City can beat Sevilla without Haaland?

No

Jack Grealish described Haaland’s mindset for scoring goals as “unbelievable” back in September, and while he won’t be lining up against Sevilla, everyone at the Etihad will have their fingers crossed that the team can beat their midweek opponents and that Haaland will be able to play at the weekend.
