The Guardian writer Paul McInnes was wholesome in his praise of the 24-year-old’s performance against Bulgaria, saying that he was “playing at a different level from pretty much everyone else on the pitch“, while Sky Sports‘ Nick Wright felt that he was “a catalyst for almost every attack” that England mounted.
Sterling has now scored seven goals at club and international level since the beginning of August, with five to his name already in the Premier League after only four matches.
These Manchester City fans on Twitter made their admiration for the player clear:

Probably the most underated player in the England team, something that would never happen at city. Where we appreciate him.
