Gabriel Jesus has totalled three goals in 10 league appearances for Manchester City so far this season, with his impact seemingly levels below that of his teammate and club legend Sergio Aguero.
Aguero, now approaching the twilight stages of his career, arguably requires a ready-made replacement for when he eventually does decide to hang up his boots at the Etihad after a near decade-long spell of crucial impacts.
Not only has the Argentine became the club’s all-time top goalscorer, but he has also contributed immensely to the club’s trophy haul in that time – scoring probably the most famous goal in Manchester City’s history to win them their first Premier League title.
Fast-forward eight years and it seems youngster Jesus could take Aguero’s long-held mantle – with 50 goals as Aguero’s understudy since joining in 2017.
However, it appears he isn’t up to the standard of Aguero, with fans insisting he needs to improve his game sooner rather than later.
Here’s what they said on social media:
More like his last opportunity to show he’s worthy successor to Aguero
