Manchester City: Fans flock to hail Raheem Sterling over Sports Personality of the Year nomination

Raheem Sterling has arguably been Manchester City’s player of the year in 2019, with a bundle of crucial moments marking him out as a true favourite with supporters following previous criticism from all over the footballing world. 

From Sterling’s gun tattoo criticism to his recent bust-up with Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, the Englishman has managed to sweep all that aside and earn a nomination for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award thanks to a phenomenal campaign.

The 24-year-old was a crucial figurehead in City’s historic domestic treble-winning side, scoring 17 goals and assisting 10 others in 33 Premier League appearances for the Sky Blues whilst also steadily improving his record with England.

As a result, not many can argue the fact he has earned his spot on the nominees list – with hordes of supporters flocking to social media and congratulating Sterling over some positive press.
