Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester City supporters have erupted over a claim involving Sky Blues star and exciting talent Phil Foden.
The 21-year-old has been making waves on the senior stage since he started playing far more regularly under Pep Guardiola in 2020 – earning a call up to England’s Euro 2020 squad and being nominated for the Men’s Ballon d’Or since then.
Foden is now a regular on the City team sheet and played a heavy hand in their run to the 2021 Champions League final, even scoring the winning goal in both legs of their quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund.
As such, it is little wonder that sporting director Txiki Begiristain wishes to tie down the star playmaker with fresh terms as The Athletic share a big boost.
According to their information, Foden is now close to signing a new deal at Eastlands and there are not thought to be any ‘big barriers’ to a full agreement.
While the contract is not yet finalised, this update could prove pivotal to the Premier League champions.
