After Manchester City cruised to the last 16 of the Champions League, putting the cherry on top with a wonderful 4-1 display away to Dinamo Zagreb, Phil Foden has taken all the headlines with his brilliant individual performance – with this latest stat putting him up there with the very best.
Foden, who scored City’s fourth during the rout on Wednesday evening, played a crucial role in the win – appearing to command the Sky Blues’ midfield with composure and assurance beyond his years.
The 19-year-old, whilst impressing solely with his ability, also unknowingly recorded himself with the likes of Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria in this statistic bracket – creating the joint-most ‘big chances’ in the Champions League group stage with six involvements overall, even despite playing limited minutes.
As a result, supporters have not only flocked to praise the Englishman, but have also used this latest stat to prove that he should perhaps be playing more often.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Excellent to be up there with Lionel Messi.
