Following Man City’s 0-0 draw with FC Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night, plenty of Sky Blues took to social media and criticised makeshift left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko for his ‘woeful‘ display after a number of his crosses failed to get past the first man.
Zinchenko, who impressed in the past for manager Pep Guardiola in the left-back role, is naturally an attacking midfielder – but a plethora of defensive injuries during City’s most successful period under the Spaniard resulted in him being tested as a full-back.

Indeed, particularly during the 2018/2019 campaign, Zinchenko often put in solid showings as the Sky Blues remained without a fully fit and competent natural left-back.
However, over last season, the 35-cap star debatably didn’t replicate that form – with his performance against FC Porto now drawing criticism and comparisons to former City man Jesus Navas.

Man City fans hammer Zinchenko
Navas was better. He was eager bumping forward. Had pace to burn. Zinchenko neither has pace no a decent delivery. Am really sad how bad his deliveries turned out.
