According to an update from Manchester City’s official Twitter account, defender John Stones has returned to first team training after picking up an injury in the Manchester derby, with supporters not exactly thrilled about his reunion with the first team squad.
In Stones’ absence, the Sky Blues have accumulated three wins out of three in all competitions, conceding two goals, with young centre-backs Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Eric Garcia particularly impressing away to Oxford United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
However, with high-flying Leicester City up next at the weekend, the return of Stones could be a welcome addition given the frightening form of Jamie Vardy.
Manager Pep Guardiola could have a selection dilemma ahead of the crunch clash, possessing a few alternative partnerships out of the two previously mentioned youngsters, Stones, Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi.
Judging by the response to Stones’ return on Twitter, it appears City supporters do not favour him starting against the Foxes.
Here’s what they had to say on social media.
What’s the point? He’s still useless!
