Lots of Manchester City fans believe that Raheem Sterling’s hat-trick in their 5-0 thrashing of West Ham on Saturday is just the start of what could be a Golden Boot-winning season for the 25-year-old.
The 24-year-old, who scored 17 goals in 34 Premier League appearances last season, is already on three for the current campaign after the champions got the defence of their title off to an emphatic start at London Stadium, and Manchester City’s official Twitter channel gladly highlighted his contribution.

Sterling netted 25 goals in all competitions in 2018/19, the second most of any Manchester City player behind Sergio Aguero, and is now up to four for this season with his weekend treble added to the strike he registered in the Community Shield penalty shoot-out win over Liverpool.
Jack Wilshere, who was in the West Ham team that suffered at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s side, described Sterling as “a nightmare to play against”, adding: “You don’t know if he’s going to come inside and he’s so sharp off the mark.
“He’s playing in a great team but he’s arguably their key player. He’s probably the first name on the teamsheet for Pep.” [via mancity.com]
Some Manchester City fans took to Twitter to lavish their own praise on Sterling after his fast start to the Premier League season. Here is some of the reaction:
What a player. Will be top scorer this season, no doubt.
