Manchester City: Fans pay tribute to Yaya Toure after nostalgic club post

Leaving the Etihad after a fruitful seven-year spell donning the sky blue colours, Yaya Toure was given a send off he’ll likely never forget, including a lifelong season ticket, a section of the CFA named after him and a beautiful mosaic of his FA Cup semi-final winning goal against Manchester United – with fans now taking the time to revisit his crucial impact.

Toure, who scored crucial goals to help City along to five trophies during his stay, has been commemorated further on Twitter as a result of the club remembering one of his later impacts on the pitch – a brace away to Crystal Palace that won the game despite seemingly being omitted from the squad for weeks beforehand.

The Ivorian bagged the winning strike in both the FA Cup semi-final and final in 2011, scored a brace away to Newcastle in City’s penultimate league game of 2012, had the season of his life in 2013/2014 and – to top all of that off – scored the winning penalty in a League Cup shoot-out against Liverpool in 2016.

All of those contributions have led him to legendary status at Eastlands, with fans not forgetting how crucial he was during the early stages of the Sheikh Mansour era in particular.
